Prof. René Thyrian is new board member of Alzheimer Europe
On October 17th 2022, Prof. René Thyrian, group leader at the DZNE Rostock/Greifswald, was elected as new member to the 2022-2024 Board of Alzheimer Europe. The election took place during the Annual General Meeting of Alzheimer Europe with representatives of its national member organisations at the 32nd Alzheimer Europe Conference.
As well during the meeting, the Statutes and Rules and Regulations of Alzheimer Europe were amended to allow the organisation to set up a European Dementia Carers Working Group.
The 32nd Alzheimer Europe Conference took place from Oct 17 to 19 in Bucharest and online under the banner “Building bridges”, brought together 544 participants from 42 countries.
Alzheimer Europe is the umbrella organisation of 35 national Alzheimer's associations from 32 European countries. Their mission is to change perceptions, policy and practice in order to improve the lives of people affected by dementia. Alzheimer Europe is a non-profit non-governmental organisation (NGO). They aim to achieve their mission by providing a voice to people with dementia and their carers, making dementia a European priority, changing perceptions and combating stigma, raising awareness of brain health and prevention, strengthening the European dementia movement and supporting dementia research.
