“Helmholtz Health Summit” convenes cutting-edge research in Berlin

Researchers from DZNE and other institutions of the Helmholtz Association are meeting in Berlin this Tuesday (October 8) discuss the medicine of the future. The Helmholtz Health Summit focuses on scientific developments that will have a long-term impact on medicine and healthcare. Topics include digital health, artificial intelligence, personalized therapy, prevention, pandemic resilience and research transfer. The conference is aimed at decision-makers from science, politics, patient organizations, biotechnology and the pharmaceutical industry.

“Few organizations have the opportunity, as we do, to significantly advance AI-driven medicine. Helmholtz not only brings together outstanding talents from medical research and the AI field as well as profound expertise in interdisciplinary biomedical research, but also provides a unique computing infrastructure,” says Otmar Wiestler, President of the Helmholtz Association.

DZNE participation

The program includes lectures and discussions with renowned experts. Parkinson’s researcher Thomas Gasser, Joachim Schultze, director for Systems medicine and pioneer of swarm learning, and Monique Breteler, head of the Rhineland Study, are among the DZNE representatives participating in the event.

An alliance for medical research

The event is organised by “Helmholtz Health”, an alliance that pools the expertise of more than 9,000 researchers and other staff from six centers of the Helmholtz Association:

  • German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ)
  • Deutsches Zentrum für Neurodegenerative Erkrankungen (DZNE)
  • Helmholtz Munich
  • Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR)
  • Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI)
  • Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC)
