Training & continuing education programs

We seek to offer our employees the best possible training, and we support their ongoing growth and development via a diverse range of training and further training opportunities.

In addition to offering onboarding events, lecture series, seminars and workshops, our human resources development staff keep working to expand our online resources for growth and development. For our doctoral researchers and postdocs, we also offer an extensive range of workshops in our Career Center framework, with the aim of optimally supporting our junior researchers in preparing for their next career steps.

In the area of highly specific professional training needs, we also provide support for participation in external training events and conferences.

The DZNE Career Center

The DZNE is currently establishing a Career Center, with the goal of better supporting our doctoral researchers and postdocs in topics of career-planning and career development. The Career Center offers a structured range of programs that provide information about the various career options available within and outside of the academic sector, as well as workshops and training on generic competences relevant for their next career step.

The establishment of the DZNE Career Center is being supported by an initiative of the Helmholtz Association's Initiative and Networking Fund.

Catalogue of further training

The catalogue of further training keeps DZNE employees informed about our internal further-training programs. In addition to general training offers on topics such as communication & collaboration, or work methods & software, it also includes more-specific courses on topics such as laboratory animal science and third-party funding. The range of available programs is continually being expanded in cooperation with the employees of the DZNE's various departments. 

Leadership development

In the context of its Helmholtz Leadership Academy, the Helmholtz Association offers various programs designed to support management staff in their leadership tasks. The programs are aimed at all persons who assume leadership responsibility in science and administration within the Helmholtz Association. They cover content in the areas of strategic activities, organization of structures and processes, and staff management.
