Patient information
The spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs) are a group of rare neurological inherited disorders that affect balance, coordination and speech. Many types of ataxia gradually get worse with time. Some forms of ataxia are treatable, but in most cases there is still no cure. Despite this, research is constantly ongoing towards finding new treatments and cures.
If you would like to find out more information about ataxia and related research studies, feel free to visit the website of the European patient organization "Euro-ataxia".
Euro-ataxia has members from across Europe and Israel. Links to national ataxia patient organisations across Europe are available here.
Euro-ataxia is involved in the SCAIFIELD project to ensure that the patient perspective is included in the research project.
