Research areas/focus
Prof. Dr. Brockmann’s main areas of research are large scale longitudinal studies to better understand the different phases of neurodegeneration as well as symptom development and progression. In this context, she focusses on patient stratification according to genetic architecture and the underlying pathologic processes, reflected by profiles in patient biomaterials to introduce patients to pathway-specific therapies. As Clinical Coordinator of the Neurobiobank Tuebingen she combines clinical and biomarker research.
Currently, she is the principal investigator of four large international and national research projects: MJFF-PPMI Study (original cohort, prodromal cohort, genetic cohort), MJFF PRKN/PINK1 Consortium, GBA1 Consortium on Joint Analyses to inform Clinical Trials, DZNE-DESCRIBE-PD (sporadic PD, GBA-PD, LRRK2-PD). Moreover, she is Deputy in numerous clinical trials focusing on pathway-based treatment options.
