Research areas/focus
One research focus of Prof. Dr. Christoph Laske is the identification and characterization of patients with dominantly inherited Alzheimer`s disease. Mutation carriers are 50 percent likely to pass the mutation on to each of their children. Hereditary Alzheimer's disease is extremely rare (less than 1% of all Alzheimer's disease cases) - but those who carry it have a very high risk to develop dementia, usually before the age of 60. Prof. Dr. Christoph Laske is the Principal Investigator of the DIAN-TU, a first treatment trial targeting family members of patients with hereditary Alzheimer's disease, to prevent symptom progression and dementia.
