Background
Participatory research has become one of the most important topics for health services research at the DZNE, which has been reinforced by the establishment of the DZNE Patient Advisory Board. With the initiation of a Translational Network for Dementia Care Research (TaNDem), funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), a basis for innovative forms of cooperation has already been created. Since one of the core tasks of the TaNDem network is to work collaboratively with people with dementia, their relatives and care professionals, it is necessary to define how care research could be carried out in a participatory manner.
Aims of the project
This project aims to develop a "blueprint" that can be adapted to the needs of the various stakeholder groups (here in particular with a focus on people with dementia and their relatives, caregivers, medical professionals, network coordinators and dementia experts, etc.) and the TaNDem study centers and implemented within the TaNDem network.
Methods
We will work iteratively over the 3 months with the different stakeholders to discuss basic elements of participatory collaboration, consensus strategies will vary depending on the stakeholder group. The rough concept will be finalized during a stakeholder conference (in Cologne).
Expected results
The long-term goal is to describe customized participatory research strategies and establish them within the TaNDem network.
