High-ranking visit: Two politicians visited the DZNE in Magdeburg on 7 March in a row.
Holger Stahlknecht, Interior Minister of the State of Saxony-Anhalt and since November 2018 Chairman of the CDU Saxony-Anhalt, made the first step: During his short visit to the DZNE, Prof. Thomas Wolbers showed him a method for treating social phobias based on virtual reality. Prof. Emrah Düzel, speaker of the DZNE Magdeburg, gave Stahlknecht a general insight into the translational research of the DZNE and presented the location Magdeburg with a focus on imaging.
Dr. Petra Sitte also informed herself on the same day about the work of the DZNE Magdeburg. She is member of the Bundestag for the party DIE LINKE. Prof. Emrah Düzel also presented the DZNE and especially the Magdeburg site. Junior research group leader Dr. Anne Maaß reported on MR-PET, a combined imaging method consisting of magnetic resonance tomography and positron emission tomography, 7Tesla MR studies and spoke about tau-deposits in the brain. Prof. Stefanie Schreiber presented information on vascular dementia and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
During the subsequent tour of the building, Petra Sitte was able to gain a personal insight into several projects of the DZNE Magdeburg and the research conditions at the site.
