Prof. Stefanie Schreiber awarded Christa-Lorenz-ALS-Forschungspreis
Prof. Stefanie Schreiber, group leader at the DZNE Magdeburg and senior neurologist at the University Department of Neurology Magdeburg, was awarded the Christa-Lorenz-ALS-Forschungspreis 2019 on 18 December.
This award of the Stiftung für medizinische Wissenschaft Frankfurt a. M. is endowed with 15,000 Euros. It was awarded for the seventh time in Magdeburg. The Stiftung für medizinische Wissenschaft Frankfurt a. M. was founded in 1999 by Christa Lorenz, who herself was affected by ALS and passed away. The purpose of the foundation is to promote research and science in this serious neurodegenerative disease.
This year, Stefanie Schreiber was awarded the Christa-Lorenz-ALS-Forschungspreis for her work on nerve sonography in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). She received this award for her numerous studies in which she was able to demonstrate new concepts for the involvement of the peripheral nervous system including innovative potential therapeutic approaches using high-resolution ultrasound in ALS.
