In vitro models

We employ multiple cell culture models, from hippocampal to dorsal root ganglia neurons, astrocytes, and microglia. These cultures are utilized for live cell or as fixed imaging as well as cell biological and biochemical essays.

Spinal cord injury models

To understand regenerative processes or investigate the effectiveness of treatment, we have a surgical facility dedicated to conducting a variety of spinal cord injuries. Using stereotaxic injections of tracers or tracer viruses, followed by tissue clearing and light-sheet imaging, we can trace individual axons throughout the brain and spinal cord to visualize circuitry and plasticity resulting from insults and regenerative treatments.

Behaviour

We utilize an array of behavioral analyses to completely characterize the motor phenotype following spinal cord injury. This includes quantitative measures of individual paw function through to detailed gait analysis and whole-body skeletal kinematic tracking.
